mightyZAP, the micro linear servo actuating solution
for the era of the 4th industrial revolution

FAQ

  1. Installation & Hardware Can I rotate the rod to adjust its length?

Absolutely not. You must avoid applying excessive twisting force to the
rod. When replacing or installing a rod-end tip, always hold the metal part
of the rod with the included M3 spanner
    to prevent it from rotating.
Twisting the rod without securing it can break the internal engineering plastic
    parts (Rod-Insert), leading to failure.

  2. Installation & Hardware Can the actuator handle lateral (side) loads?

No, mightyZAP is designed for linear motion (push/pull)
only. Continuous lateral loads can bend the rod, damage internal gears,
or cause overload errors. If your application involves lateral forces, you must
install a linear guide or LM guide to distribute the load.

  3. Installation & Hardware What are the recommended power voltage and capacity?

The rated voltage is 12V (Operating range: 7.4V ~
13V). Applying over 13V may damage the circuit. The power supply (SMPS)
capacity should be selected based on a peak current of approximately 1.6A
    per actuator
. For multiple units, we recommend a capacity of (Number of
    units × 0.8A) + Margin
. (0.8A is the current at rated load).

  4. Installation & Hardware Can I extend the cable (wire harness) length?

Yes. However, for TTL communication (PT series), we
recommend keeping the length under 4m due to noise susceptibility. RS-485
    communication (F series)
allows for much longer distances, but you must
account for Voltage Drop. Use thicker power cables or a distributed
power supply system for long runs. Please refer to our optional Extension Wire
    Harnesses.

  5. Installation & Hardware How much is the mechanical backlash?

The mechanical backlash is designed to be around 0.03mm
    (30µm)
, which is quite precise. However, backlash may increase slightly
over time due to gear wear.

  6. Installation & Hardware Is there a tolerance in the rod’s start and end positions?

Due to assembly tolerances, there may be a mechanical
variance of up to ±0.5mm at the start/end points. If precise synchronization is
required, you can use the Min/Max Position Calibration feature to adjust
    the start/end points via software.

  7. Installation & Hardware The product makes noise during operation.

Operational noise below 50dB (at 1m distance) is normal due
to the gearbox and motor. If you hear a specific frequency noise (e.g., 15Hz),
it may be due to the motor’s torque ripple. To reduce noise, you can lower the
input voltage or reduce the Goal Speed/Current parameters.

  8. Installation & Hardware Can it be used in RC planes or Drones?

Yes. However, in high-vibration environments like drones,
the Overload Protection feature might trigger falsely. In such cases, you may
need to adjust the position sensor sensitivity or disable the overload
protection feature depending on the situation.
